Yeah... Its Ok

Happy Thursday!

...that I sometimes take thirty minute showers. But only if the water is up as hot as I can take it.

...that I bought a tub of dark chocolate fudge icing, with no intention of actually icing anything. May I have a spoon please?

...that the TIME magazine cover didn't shock me as much as the backlash of people saying breastfeeding is gross did.

...that I try I avoid diving too deep into my political beliefs because I don't want to be labeled based on a single aspect of what makes me, me!

...that I'd like to think Robert Downey Jr. is exactly like Tony Stark in real life.

...that I'm a total giveaway whore. If I see a blogger hosting a giveaway, you can bet I'm entering.

...that I finally caved and plowed through 50 Shades of Grey {no pun intended... maybe}

...that I'm really terrible when it comes to commenting on other blogs. I try to make a point to comment every day but it generally doesn't happen.

...that I make fun of Keelin when she starts fussing for no reason, by mimicking her cry. To her face. :)

...that I turn into an overprotective mother with a rebellious teen whenever Z takes the motorcycle to work, and I demand that he texts me when he arrives.

...that I kind of missed having my knees, shoulders, feet, and back covered in bruises from dance.

...to pretend that I'm Giada DeLaurentiis when I'm creating a culinary masterpiece {in my head} for dinner.

Jamie Katz Photography

You may have noticed {if you visit my actual blog versus reading via e-mail or Google Reader} that I recently added a few companies to my side bar. These are my LOVELY sponsors and I'd like to take a moment to introduce you!  FIRST... the lovely and talented Jamie Katz.

You should recognize her name from all the fantastic pictures of Keelin I love to share. Jamie was recommended to us by a friend and coworker of Z's. She was looking to add some newborn photos to her portfolio and we happened to have a fresh newborn, right out of the cooker! It was FANTASTIC working with her and, being a mother herself, she definitely put me at ease during the photoshoot with her effortless handling of my tiny little girl. Even though Keelin both peed and pooped on some of her fabric backdrops, we were welcomed back for 3 month photos as well! And you'll be seeing plenty more of her work here since we'll be doing Keelin's 6, 9, and 12 month photos with her as well! She's super fun and super fantastic and if you're looking for a photographer for your little ones, I HIGHLY recommend her! I stole some of her "about me" facts from her website and thought it would be nice to share a little more about the lady behind the lens:

Jamie is an Alabama born traveler, having lived in 6 states and over 20 cities during her lifetime! She has always looked for ways to cultivate her passion for all things artistic. Be it music, acting, dance, writing, or photography, there is no denying she is a TRUE artist! Her love of photography began as a teenager with the discovery of Ansel Adams and then blossomed into a passion of portraiture after her first daughter was born... nothing like the beautiful eyes of a child to awaken a passion and begin a journey of learning to capture those precious moments...properly. Her training lies in educators throughout Atlanta, friends and mentors throughout the US, and the day by day experiences of her own little ones and artists she is humbled to capture.

Jamie specializes in babies, children, families {pets included} and actor headshots.

And now, to show off her skills, a special peek at her latest session with Keelin! I'm so in love with these pictures I can hardly stand it!

Cheesy Quinoa Bites

Another recipe folks! This one is compliments of Tracy's Culinary Adventures!The Pierce household has been on a kick to boost the health level in our everyday eating and I, like many, was in need of a healthy snack option that would satisfy my tummy without making it expand! Enter my favorite superfood... QUINOA!

You have to get used to the texture but there is so much goodness and superfood power in these tiny grains you'd be silly not to at least give it a try! As always {when I snag recipes from fellow bloggers} you can find the full recipe from Tracy's original post but here's the run down of how it went down in my kitchen {with a few slight changes from how Tracy did it}!

Cook your quinoa {I cooked mine in chicken stock for extra flavor!}

and mix your ingredients {I used basil instead of spinach for a zesty kick!}

Fill mini muffin pan with the mixture...

and bake!

YUM-O! Such a tasty treat that gives you protein, veggies, and enough savory goodness to feel like you're indulging without the guilt that comes with eating an entire sleeve of Pringles!

Meatball Sandwich Casserole

It's recipe Monday! Not that Mondays are the only days I'll share recipes, but it seems to be a reocurring event here lately, so... IT'S RECIPE MONDAY!

I've been on the hunt for new recipes and have struck gold with a few choice blogs. I've totally ignored the shelves of cookbooks in my kitchen, most of which I've yet to use, and my hubs thinks it is hysterical that I spend more time looking through foodie blogs than I do looking through the pages of recipes I actually paid for. Oh well!

THIS tasty number is compliments of Mom's Crazy Cooking! Check out the full recipe and instruction there {I added basil and a few choice spices to the meatball mix} but here's a quick run down from our kitchen!

mix and roll freeze for 15 minutes to secure shape

roll in flour and brown in oil lay bread out {oiled and seasoned with garlic!}

cover in tomato sauce and bake

place baked meatballs over bread, add more sauce, and bake for another 20 minutes, adding cheese with 5 minutes remaining.

YUM!!!

Awards? I love awards! Drinks all around!

I'm way late passing this on, but that seems to be the theme of my TO DO list lately {geeze, Keelin} so better late than never! The Über fabulous Jell Jell over at I'll Sleep When They're Grown, was kind enough to give me some props in her Versatile Blogger post.  Be sure and check out her post {<---click there.... no seriously, do it!} so you can see her list of exceptionally versatile blogger!  I've already added most of them to my never ending list of blog subscriptions! What can I say, the gal's got great taste!!!

Official Rules of the Award

1) Thank the award-giver(s) and link back to them in your post. 2) Tell your readers seven (7) things about yourself. 3) Give this award to up to fifteen (15) recently discovered bloggers. 4) Contact those bloggers and let them in on the exciting news.

Me, about:

  1. I am considering renaming my child to "bean" because I can't seem to call her anything else.
  2. I kind of miss being pregnant. Not only because I felt totally beautiful 100% of the time, but now I have a left over pudge of what I like to call "maternal mush" and I'm not too happy about it. We aren't friends. In fact, we're fighting.
  3. I find something incredibly soothing about the sound and heat that comes from my hair dryer. I even have a habit of sitting in a butterfly position with the dryer grasped in my monkey feet, pointed directly at me providing warmth and comfort. It's blissful. Don't judge. The bean loves it too! If ever I need to calm her down I turn that sucker on and she's happy as a clam. 1 point for the mommy club.
  4. I made the mistake of starting LA Ink on Netflix and now I want another tattoo.
  5. I'm really excited about the shower I'm about to take because the hubs and I picked up a new fancy-pants shower head last night at Costco.
  6. I'm currently obsessed with this song... and this cover of it. Join me in my obsession.
  7. I would LOVE to be a stay at home mom. The working world is great and all that, but #1, I have too many things that I want to do to narrow it down into one career and #2, I've never been happier cleaning spit up, changing dirty diapers and anxiously awaiting Z's return from work each day.

I'm sure many of these bloggers have gotten this award {along with many others} already but I love them all too much NOT to mention, so here they are!

1. The Girl Who Ate Everything 2. A Girl in Pearls and a Boy with Toys 3. Heart on Homestead 4. MK in Wonderland 5. Rockstar Diaries 6. A Mad Girls Love Song 7. Friffle Thoughts 8. Simply Smithwick 9. Stilettos and Diapers 10. Smile Big and Pretty 11. Today's Letters 12. Lovely Little Details 13. Island Randalia 14. Happiness Is... 15. Career Desires to Bottles and Diapers

Check them out!
